Photogaphy, Green Initiatives, EV Kerb Appeal and Dragon’s Den

This month I’ve had the pleasure of photographing for another innovative company with a sustainability initiative. And this company has also caught a Dragon’s eye!

Kerbo Charge Ltd successfully secured investment from sustainability champion Deborah Meaden in BBC’s Dragons’ Den recently with a pitch for their solution to the challenges of charging electric vehicles (EVs) at home in towns and cities.

By opening up access to EV charging for more homes, as well as giving people greater choices to transition to EVs it will hopefully result in cleaner air quality in those locations.

Read on to the end of this post to see highlight footage from BBC’s Dragons’ Den.

Why was I so interested in this project?

Having previously worked as a senior officer in local councils I was accutely aware of the challenges in rolling out infrastructure for EV charging in local towns. And in particular how to solve the problem of residents charging at home if they don’t have their own off street parking.

It’s a subject I’ve been following with interest and with Kerbo Charge’s product, not only is there a story behind the development and roll out of the project, plus the investment from each and every customer has their own individual story too.

So I made the call to offer my services to the company, explained my background and why I was so interested in shooting for their project.

A Electic Vehicle (EV) is parked on the side of the road. A cable is plugged into the car to charge it's battery. The cable runs from the car's charging socket down to the kerb and crosses an uneven pavement through a covered channel towards a house

One of fascinating aspects about being a freelance photographer is getting to meet and talk to my clients’ customers. Out on location with the end users, I was struck by how easy the system was to use. Every customer I spoke to was enthusiastic about the difference it had made. No more searching and waiting for expensive public charging points. No more trailing cables across pavements and fussing with temporary covers, no more worrying about trip hazards outside their homes. So they were keen to be involved with the photoshoots and show how their Kerbo Charge installations had benefited them.

Roll Out

In the area that I was photographing, the product is currently going through a trial phase with the local authority. In some parts of the country it’s already starting to roll out.

For the latest information on the roll out and availabililty in your area, please see the Kerbo Charge wesbiste www.kerbocharge.com

Example Photos

I’ve included a selection of images from the photoshoots below. These are real cases of how the product is being used by local residents.

Five Star Review

I’m grateful for the review received from Kerbo Charge. They have been a pleasure to work with at every step, provided a very clear brief for me and were quick to respond to any queries.
